A Cultural Bridge Between Louisiana & Brazil
Braziliana is a cultural initiative launched in late 2024, designed to celebrate the shared spirit of South Louisiana and Brazil through music, cuisine, art, and storytelling. Rooted in tradition and driven by creativity, the project highlights the deep cultural connections that unite these two regions.

At its core, Braziliana is a living cultural exchange, bringing people together across borders through music, film, food, and immersive storytelling. The initiative follows artists, musicians, and cultural leaders as they explore the parallels between Mardi Gras and Carnival, uncovering the community-driven energy that connects Cajun, Creole, and Brazilian traditions.

Through short films, live performances, and collaborative experiences, Braziliana captures these moments of connection, creating platforms that inspire dialogue, foster collaboration, and build lasting cultural relationships.
Where Culture Comes to Life
Separated by geography but united in spirit, South Louisiana and Southeast Brazil share a deep connection through music, flavor, and community.
Braziliana celebrates that connection through immersive experiences:
-
Live Music Performances blending Louisiana roots with Brazilian rhythms
-
Culinary Events & Churrasco Gatherings celebrating food as a universal language
-
Film & Storytelling capturing authentic cultural narratives
-
Artist Collaborations & Exchanges fostering global creativity
This is more than a program, it’s a cultural movement built on connection.

A Journey That Became Something More
From Louisiana to Brazil
Traveling from Acadiana to São Paulo, there is an undeniable sense of anticipation, of finally stepping into a culture that feels both new and strangely familiar. The energy, the rhythm, the way people gather, celebrate, and express themselves, it all echoes something we know by heart.
From the first shared meal to the first note played, it becomes clear: this is not just a visit. It’s a recognition.
The parallels between Mardi Gras and Carnival, between front porch jams and Brazilian street rhythms, between family tables and churrasco gatherings, are not distant similarities, but reflections of a shared spirit rooted in joy, resilience, and community.
Throughout the exchange, artists and cultural leaders don’t just observe, they connect. Music becomes a common language. Food becomes a bridge. Storytelling becomes a mirror. What unfolds is a genuine sense of belonging, where differences are celebrated but the connection feels effortless.
There is excitement in discovery, but even more meaning in confirmation that across miles of ocean, these cultures have always been speaking to each other in their own way.
Braziliana captures that feeling. Not as a moment, but as an ongoing relationship, one that continues to grow with every exchange, every collaboration, and every shared experience.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially Fabio, Leandro, my mom, my sister, and all of our friends, collaborators, and supporters. This exchange would not have been what it was without your generosity, trust, and belief in the vision.”
- Gus Rezende, Founder of Social Entertainment & Co-Founder of Braziliana
From Brazil to Louisiana
As we prepare to welcome our Brazilian friends to South Louisiana, there is an undeniable excitement in the air. These are the same individuals who opened their homes, shared their traditions, and made us feel like family from the moment we arrived.
Now, it’s our turn to return that hospitality.

There is pride in this moment, pride in the culture, the music, the food, and the community that shapes who we are. Just as they guided us through the rhythms and flavors of São Paulo, we now have the opportunity to share the soul of Acadiana, its front porch gatherings, festival energy, and rich culinary traditions.

Meals become more than meals. They are experiences, familiar in spirit, yet reimagined with a Louisiana flair. Music fills the spaces between conversations, carrying the same energy we felt abroad, now rooted in our own backyard. And in every shared toast, every laugh, and every late-night story, there is a sense of something deeper taking place.
This is not simply a visit...it’s a reunion.

Two cultures, once again, coming together not as guests, but as family. Bound by shared experiences, mutual respect, and a love for celebrating life, Braziliana continues to prove that connection knows no borders, only rhythm, heart, and the willingness to open the door.

Today, Braziliana stands as more than a project; it serves as a defining force in our broader mission, embodying the cultural connection, creativity, and community impact that will shape everything we build moving forward.
Spotlight: Braziliana House Band
The Braziliana House Band is a powerful collaboration of some of Acadiana’s most respected musicians, joined by Brazilian artist Rodrigo Munhoz, forming a dynamic collective rooted in creativity, versatility, and cultural exchange.
Featuring Lafayette artists Roddie Romero (three-time Grammy-nominated musician), Drake LeBlanc, Andre Michot (Grammy-winning Cajun artist ), David Crochet, Jean Torres, and Sami Parhboo, the group represents a rich cross-section of South Louisiana’s music scene.

During their time in São Paulo, the band performed for Brazilian audiences, sharing the soul of Louisiana music while embracing the rhythms and energy of Brazil. Their performance at Downtown Alive! marked the debut of this collaboration on home soil, introducing Louisiana audiences to a sound born from exchange, shaped by travel, and united through music.

At the heart of Braziliana is music

Community, Culture & Impact
Braziliana is built with purpose, supporting both cultural preservation and future generations.
Education & Scholarship Initiatives

As part of its commitment to education and cultural exchange,
Braziliana is contributing $2,000 to support music, culture, and
community access in São Paulo. The first initiative focuses on the
Itaquera neighborhood, benefiting both an individual student and
their public school, reflecting a dual-impact approach that supports
immediate needs while investing in long-term arts education.
Youth Engagement, and Long-term Cultural Impact

Braziliana’s youth-focused programming expands through the Downtown Braziliana Kids Camp. We hosted a successful pilot camp during the 2025 holiday break with 12 kids, centered on creativity, culture, and community. Building on that momentum, a new edition of Downtown Kids Camp featuring Braziliana is planned for Winter 2026 at Chez La Fête.
What’s Next
Winter 2026: Braziliana Short Film Series
Over the past two years, Braziliana has been intentionally and thoughtfully documented, capturing not just moments, but meaning. From the vibrant traditions of Mardi Gras to Carnaval, from the first cultural exchange in São Paulo to the continued evolution of the project in Louisiana, this growing body of footage represents something far greater than content.
With the continued documentation of key moments, including Festival International de Louisiane and the arrival of our Brazilian delegation, Braziliana is building a powerful visual narrative with the potential to extend far beyond the regions it represents. From film festivals and digital platforms to educational and cultural institutions, this storytelling has the ability to inspire global audiences and spark meaningful dialogue around cultural identity and connection.
It is a living archive of connection.

The upcoming Braziliana Short Film Series will bring these stories to life, offering an authentic, cinematic window into the people, places, and shared traditions that define this cultural exchange.
Each film is designed to highlight the emotional depth, artistic collaboration, and community spirit that make Braziliana so impactful.
This work is not created in passing...it is created with purpose.
It is meant to be experienced, shared, and elevated.
